FCC Fining Carriers for selling location data illegally
Is it a good idea to get kitchen cabinet and flooring upgrades from the builder or just buy these items from Costco and work with a contractor for installation after receiving the home?
What's the price difference?
About 30-40k difference
Who's charging 30-40k more and for what?
Builder is 2x the contractor
Yeah that’s a lot of price difference
Just buy a bunch of 2*4s, Sheetrock, shingles , insulation, conduit, pipes, faucets, wires, switches, hvac, countertops, appliances, floorboards, tiles, bathtubs from Home Depot and build your home bro, why would you go to a builder?
If I have all the time, just as you do typing out all these lame comments, then maybe I could go build my own home!
Went with contractor on a new build. If you go with builder the cost gets added on purchase price for property tax calculations. Also you get to select what you want and not be rushed by builder. We plan to have it installed exactly at 1 year mark so that we benefit from the builder warranty as well
What kind of benefit on one year warranty? Did you go with an independent contractor or contractor used by builder? Where did you find the contractor? In the same boat. Got a new build home but want to change a few things
Builder
Any reason? I heard the builder charges a lot more for the upgrades but positive side is we get everything ready on day 1
Yes, you don’t have to deal with contractors, no downtime, no haggling over going over budget, wear and tear to the paint and finishing surrounding the work space + builder warranty might be impacted.
