Burnt relation with manager. How can I even the score?

My team was lacking a proper manager for many months, after the last one left. The senior director overseeing our team and work, was so incapable and incompetent, that not only he failed to properly manage the team, but also failed to hire anyone new. So after about a year of him, there was a re-org., and my team was simply handed over to another team's manager, who happens to be a silly a*****e at his best. Not only he went missing from office on many occasions, but when I told of this to his level ups, they are now coming after me and talking about my performance. Simply put, the manager seems to be looking for excuses to get rid of me, if he hasn't officially communicated any PIP plans to me yet. It's clear that the entire organization sucks and Expedia is one of the best places to kill your career. But, before I go, for whatever reason, I want the org. to have a taste of their own medicine. Especially my management hierarchy. What all can I do?

Of course. Looking for another boat, before stepping out of this one.

Be an adult. Also, look back and learn from your mistakes.

My mistake? Speaking up? Not being a mindless sheep 🐑 ?

No, you cannot shit on your manager even if asked by higher ups on white collar factory floor.

Just leave. It’s good for you soul. You will live longer. Why do you want to go through the bitterness and resentment? Not gonna make you happy!

Hotwire xtatic OP Dec 18, 2018

Just if Amazon's hiring practices were better, I'd have left already.

You must be the owner of Expedia or Hotwire. If not ... then you are dumb

Hotwire xtatic OP Dec 18, 2018

I do get that there's only so much do as an entry level engineer. But, even the owners of these companies can't just throw some money and play with people's careers. Maybe, I better gotta seek a labour union.

Cisco WhyEyeTEe Dec 18, 2018

Thanks for confirming you are dumb. Dude do your 9 to 5 go home - Expedia and it’s betterment is not your job ask :)

There's nothing you can do that wouldn't be criminal. The best thing to do is to take your talent elsewhere and let the organization fail on its own.

Hotwire xtatic OP Dec 18, 2018

There's already an Expedia survivor's group on Facebook. Seems to be work of some customers. Joining hands or doing something similar would be criminal?

T-Mobile beLIE Feb 14, 2019

What is said group called?

Cisco WhyEyeTEe Dec 18, 2018

btw, it’s done. There is nothing you can do to fix this

Hotwire xtatic OP Dec 18, 2018

Hm... Maybe I can start selling hotels too?

I have gone thru exactly the same situation 3 years ago. Leaving to your next career move is the wisest option. It is a waste of time & energy on correcting corporate politics.

Hotwire xtatic OP Dec 18, 2018

Yeah. Looking for change.

There's satisfaction in letting people eat their own dog food. If it makes you feel better, just stay friends with ex-colleagues and get some insight on to how badly things are going once you leave to help your insecurities. Be prepared to learn they all do just fine without you though.

Hotwire xtatic OP Dec 18, 2018

Lol. That's an experiential answer.

I always opted to do a good enough job that they missed me after I left. Less burnt bridges that way.

Hotwire xtatic OP Dec 19, 2018

And what if your manager won't let you choose?

New
vvnT76 Dec 19, 2018

It isn't your manager's choice. You do the best work possible within the environment provided. If you leave and they don't miss you then you weren't all that great anyways, at least in that position. If you leave and they can't replace you, reviews or not they'll realize there is a big hole there, and be the ones having to keep it filled.
