Business Travel Policy

I need help: AT YOUR COMPANY (please state), in what cases can you travel business class for a work trip? What is your company's hotel budget per night limit? And how about for food and drink while traveling (do you get a per diem or is there is specific limit per meal)?

Google ubjvhhfvh Jun 8, 2019

Obviously it varies by company. Ask internally

I know....I edited to ask because I am curious about other companies' travel policies. What is it at Google?

Google modi_56 Jun 8, 2019

Depends on where you're visiting. West coast vs Europe will be very different.

You can book business if you travel 8 hours straight for two separate round trips or if you’re a manager. $75/day per diem.

Samsung realsam OP Jun 8, 2019

"Or" if you're a manager = you can travel business for any distance?

Any flight 4,500 miles+ is eligible for business class. Food suggested limit ~$75/day. I think the hotel guidance is $300/night but it’s more flexible in expensive cities. Most importantly, Concur is configured in the most employee-friendly way possible, and you don’t have to itemize your hotel receipts.

Lol what We have to itemize hotel receipts and we own the product.

Any flight over 90 min is business No per diem, as long as its “within reason”

Might as well do it for <90 minutes at that point, lol

Any international flights or domestic over 8hrs.

No business class; over a couple hours and we can book “premium” economy. Up to $100 per day reimbursed for food.

Cisco VKFU58 Jun 8, 2019

No allowances for business/first class unless you have an easy to get doctors note then HR will update the employees travel profile to permit it. I do think it should be permitted to book premium economy at the minimum. Hotels or Airbnb within reason. We use concur and it has pretty good pricing for most nice hotels. Per diem $100/day which I believe is rather low and should be doubled given the locations we travel to are very expensive and add up quickly. Exemption is if with a customer then there is no real limit. Again within reason but i've had $500 meals for two without question.

75 per diem, business is reserved for directors and above when travel is more than 8 hours. Economy for all levels below for any trip. Hotel limit is 360 a night for major cities like SF and NYC.

Fremont CA to Reno NV -> Tesla Shuttle which flies every other day from Hayward. Rest all, Tesla Travel which is a partner portal to book the tickets straight from it. $100/day for food and lodging is paid for as well.

Depends on your position and business unit. Usual story that there are no tickets available from BOI (to bay area) if you try to book in 1-2 days before the trip. Even with one stop. You can book business in this case.
