Buying apartment in India right now?

I work in bay area and have about 90L INR saved up. I want to buy an apartment in Mumbai/Pune. (all cash). No plans of settling in USA. Is this a good time to buy with everything going on? The exchange rates seems to be good right now. Will housing prices in India drop if I wait a bit more? TC: 130k YoE : 7 #india #mumbai #pune

Hasn't the exchange rate been in low 70s for last 2 years?

It’s hovering around 74 now. Reached 75 for a while few days back.

It is stupid to buy house with full cash...

eBay fpeojd OP Mar 16, 2020

Yeah but I’m too nervous about layoffs and having loan on top it. Also why pay unnecessary interest.

Clear the outgoing loans you have right now. Cars and credit cards.

Check the Bombay stock exchange. Indian economy is going to crash, government is not taking any steps to help it. I would say wait for a month or 2.

My experience so far with apartment sellers in Mumbai has been that if they are not in a hurry to sell they will stick to their price no matter what. Same goes for rich builders. I have an apartment lined up that fits my budget so wondering if I should make an offer sooner.

Is it new or under construction? Or sale by other owner? Which area?

Oz Management curamzn Mar 16, 2020

Buy in Pune if you are planning to stay there. Rentals returns are very low there.

Better use loan and pay 30% max in cash. Wait for market to crash and once it steadies put 50% in market. Keep rest in bank

I agree with this advise. You can do a fixed deposits. That’s your backup to pay mortgage in case you lose your job. Be careful on which bank you choose 😀
