Is there any advantage of buying vanguard etf on vanguard website vs if i am buying on robinhood or chase? I already have these accounts so wanted to avoid creating another unless there is an added advantage.#personalfinance #investments #etf #robinhood
RobinHood lacks some basic brokerage settings like choosing the cost basis method. I would pass on RH for a taxable account
For all those trying hands at RH as a newbies, it is nice that you are taking control of your saving and investments. But for the sake of your investment stability, please get OFF that amateurish platform ASAP, there are lot more better and reliable platforms than RH, you are risking your investments in event of future crash or panic seasons if your RH account won’t work on that crucial day.
Like Ameritrade? That's crashes several times in the past 3 months Perhaps you meant Schwab? How not, that has crashed several times recently as well. Webull? Crashed IB? Crashed It's software, made by humans.. Shit is going to break. Sounds like op isn't going to actively trade, so after entering a position and perhaps placing a stop loss, RH isn't lacking in this factor in comparison to other brokers.
Mostly i plan buying etfs like voo, vtsax etc which i plan to hold long. For stocks I understand, but i am especially looking if there is any cons in buying etfs there vs robinhood
Keep your serious investments and play money accounts separate. Vanguard is a more stable organization and better suited for long term holdings. It is easy to automate purchases for dollar cost averaging. Fills are better since their business model is not dependent on selling order flows
The interface is the worst though. The values shown for balances are completely non intuitive when you have pending transfers or orders. Both web and app are bad.
Vanguard is not for active traders. You don’t need to see cost basis and % gain every day. It is best in class for autopilot style, long term investing
If you buy on robinhood, during periods of high volatility, there's a 10% chance you'll get locked out of your account due to a "system error". So.... yeah.
