Buzzing tech vs growth

I am an IC, was on a path to ppl management before being laidoff at Lyft. Got two offers (keeping them anonymous so that the names of company doesn't add bias). Company 1: Pros: - one of the top companies, a great name on resume. - Team works on Generative AI/LLM. One team member got a patent recently. Cons: - Hiring Manager doesn't see a path for promotion anytime soon. I worked with this manager in the past and he never trusted my ability. - Company had several rounds of layoffs. Company 2: Pro: - an upcoming company, pre-IPO with good future potential... Completely new team. There's potential to grow along with the team. - Manager and teammates were nice to talk with. - Company had one round of layoffs but tech wasn't affected Cons: - Team's charter is not fixed but I don't foresee them working on AI. - Pre IPO TC wise: I want to make a decision irrespective of TC at first and then factor in TC later. Yet to hear offers anyway (confirmed by recruiters that I am through). In summary, growth opportunities are better in company 2 but company 1 is working on cool stuff. Given the stage of my career, should I pick growth over tech? Is tech still important? What would you choose?

Company 1, why would you work for that manager again? Are you an idiot?

Good question. I never thought I would consider that but just thinking bcoz of the interesting work they are doing. If I don't want promo(many ppl see Senior level as terminal level), then this is great to work for an year or two. And then change the company Not saying that I should take this route but just have it as an option
