I've been viewing other people's interview experiences on blind, so I figured I'd share mine too. Hackerrank Screening: They gave me three problems on hackerrank. One was a simple array problem similar to the longest consecutive sequence, another was a strings problem identical to the longest common substring, and the last was a graphs problem like the number of islands (all of these are leetCode questions for reference). First Round: Intro / Web development questions What is the Virtual Dom What is the difference between React and Vue Describe visibility in context to rendering Describe a project you completed (challenges, implementation, tech stack, etc.) Difference between setTimeout and Promises They give you five console.log() statements in javascript and ask you to determine the order. Tree Question Given a flat array of objects, create a tree out of it. This part was easy, but it was in javascript in hackerrank code pair, and when I switched to python, the test cases didn't convert. For reference, here are my stats: TC: 108K | LC: 150+ | 3 Internships (pretty average companies) I am still waiting to hear back, but I didn't answer everything correctly. When I asked for feedback, my interviewer told me to do more research (XoX). I'm currently a new grad and still exploring other opportunities, so if your company is hiring for new grad positions, DM me. I'll try to get you a referral bonus (after more research T.T). Best of luck! #tiktok #bytedance
Is this really the level expected of new grads? Or is ByteDance just hardcore?
I think it was fair for a front end position. I just had a hard time with a few of them and there was some wasted time though trying to understand him properly. Also your best bet is a generalist software engineer because I bet those questions will be easier.
Doesn’t seem hard to me at all. Seems entry level to be honest. For React/JavaScript.
What did you score on the Hackerrank and how long after completing it did you hear back to schedule an interview? Thanks
I got a perfect score on the hackerrank at the end of September. I heard back from them in mid November to schedule an interview and had the interview in late December
Thanks for replying. Did you have a referral? And for the hackerrank, what do you recommend studying? I heard it’s all DP med/hard
My new grad friend at RBC (a fricking bank) legit got asked harder LC than that, at least last year. LC is so bullshit
Interviewer told you to do more research? Research on what?
Literally just research LOL. Not a great interviewer but I tried to be unbiased. When I asked for clarifications he told me to read again. Couldn’t help like he didn’t wanna be there. Wish you luck to get someone else 🍀
Sounds like that guy was too busy eating a big turd to interview you. Good luck on the next round!
