Do you really feel special in your Tesla?
I am about to get an offer from cisco hardware team. Is it safe to join their Networking Team? I heard Cisco is moving on from hardware to a more software oriented company and worried about constant layoffs. TC: 130 YOE: 2 #hardware
Cisco is a layoff factory, avoid if you're looking for long term stability.
This
Hardware is pretty stable and safe from layoffs. Hardware at cisco is not going anywhere, especially core hardware like data center switches that you mentioned.
Data center will be fine. That's a core strength for Cisco and not a legacy BU. If you want a fast-paced, fly by the seat of your pants job... No. But I wouldn't worry about layoffs.
Most of my friends working in Cisco hardware teams already left or quit because it sucks. Too much lousy boring work. Good stuff is owned by Israel team. Not learning much. Israel team is very selfish and never share the internal design to other teammates
Not true at all 🤣🤣🤣 how many chips could isreal team handle ? It needs to be team work!
the data center switches team should be fine for now if you are only worried about layoff as there has been plenty of attrition happened in that team. pay will start feeling mediocre over period of time. keep that in mind. because that and politics has been biggest factor for attrition work really depends on your manager.
Networking team? It’s all networking. What BU are you joining? Service provider? Enterprise? Data center?
sorry I meant the data center switches team
That’s still core hardware. That BU is going nowhere… as in unlikely to be nuked. You should be fine.
