I always knew executives under Tech are paid more but didnt expect Suresh to get 2X (43.6 M) than Doug. Is this the norm in other companies as well or only coz Walmart is retail and paying more is the only means of acquiring tech talent? https://www.google.com/amp/s/footwearnews.com/2020/business/financial-news/walmart-ceo-salary-chief-technology-officer-1202972347/amp/ TC - 🥜 compared to Suresh's TC
Seems like you are tight with Suresh. Why don’t you ask for a raise!
He saw my TC and asked me to GTFO
Lol
Unusual extremely
They need to catch up so much for e-Walmart to take off; kind of make sense, that a cto who is able to generate more for the CEO’s goals will possibly earn more than ceo as well.
I bet it’s something to do with incentives structure details. Just happened do that this year cto got a ton of money. This won’t persist
I will not be surprised if ScottGu is paid more than Satya
I think this can happen only at non tech companies since the CEOs of the top tech companies are likely to be from a tech/tech product background and not a Retail background
Sighhh @StrangeWay
Yeah it was a shocker. Overpaying for a overrated guy who has not done much except few reorgs , hiring his guys, firing contractors, giving boring speeches and lacking charisma as a leader . Hes cruising in walmart in the true sense.
Nothing great about him or the other leaders on Sam's and international. I would give it few years before they change things up. He is not the person to take them to next level. He has not even visited all the locations. Hoboken and reston where they have a good size team. At some point wmt will just decide that e-commerce is not for them.
There is unfortunately a very good chance that without e-commerce there will be no Walmart at that point.
That's cause Suresh shot his entire load this year. He won't make shit this yr and the next.
What do mean by "entire load" ..rsus? ...don't execs have the typical Walmart vesting
There is a good chance that Suresh is more like an investment that might pay off long term.
This is actually not that weird. Just like we can receive massive stock grants when we get an offer from a competing company, executives get aggressive signing offers too. Suresh makes almost $1 million less in actual salary, and while he received a $43.6 million stock grant on signing, that’s not exactly the same as making more than the CEO, as those stocks will not vest unless he stays. Marc Lore also made more than Doug every year for the past five (?) years, but just like Suresh, they were trying to buy their way into talent. But the jokes on them because neither Marc or Suresh are particularly talented.
Suresh gets 43.6 Million for coming up with the most impactful idea ever in the history of Walmart - "Loosely Coupled and Strongly Aligned"... Think deeply about it, it's revolutionary in so many different ways. His predecessor s never got the combination right. Some we're strongly Coupled and loosely aligned, while others loosely Coupled and loosely Aligned, but Suresh hit the sweet spot.
Agreed, but also this was made possible because Suresh has a spot on Doug's table and across WM US and globally no one can question him , this was not the case before him.
I was trolling...

I suspect it's to combat Amazon. You need good leadership to take on a behemoth like Amazon
Absolutely. Govt and competitors of Amazon (Almost everyone) coming together is the only way to take on Amazon, which I don't think Will happen for another decade
