Nothing will happen. You can ask to file another H1 from apple. As long as you don’t join Cadence you are good

ServiceNow HsEK75 Oct 28, 2020

+1 and don’t tell to cadence about accepting apples offer unless the transfer is complete at Apple.

Samsung coder_94 Oct 23, 2020

Nothing will happen just take the offer from Apple.

Can I DM you for referral

How's Macy's doing ?

Qualcomm typicalQ Oct 23, 2020

Just get h1 transfer approval at apple. Thats it. You are good to go.

You can even accept both offers to be in the safe path. Not the best-looking attitude for companies and will for sure get you blacklisted for life, but your personal life and stability is in the stake here, so I would give no chances to one of them not moving further all of a sudden

Qualcomm oXrv43 Oct 23, 2020

Give them a compelling reason for not starting off and take the better offer..

Apple red wart Oct 27, 2020

Is "they pay 40% more" compelling enough?

Qualcomm oXrv43 Oct 27, 2020

Lol... sounds like

After everything is cleared on Apple side (offer, visa, etc), send a sincere letter to Cadence, explain why you decline it (salary, family, anything), optionally apologize for inconvenience. Take it easy. This is Silicon Valley, not some small Midwest town.

Mind sharing both offers & yoe? Its a channel for mutual sharing

Just be careful when u r mailing cadence. This industry is very small and don't burn the bridges. People are good at remembering things. Be polite and give some legitimate reason.

Qualcomm gadowort Oct 24, 2020

Don't burn bridges, sure. But 'the industry' is not small by any means. Keep a good head about you and you can work anywhere in software which is huge: everyone needs software.

Intel othlaa Oct 24, 2020

I didn't mean the magnitude. Rather people move or companies get acquired. So, u may end up meeting the same person twice in your career. Political tides go up and down. Those who are small will rise and those who are at top may fall down. That's it.

There are two way to look at this. One way is in my humble opinion reflective of the character you’ve built in your life. If you can’t keep your commitment you shouldn’t have agreed in the first place and taken the offer. The other view is of the industry. It is a small semi industry. Some people will forget or ignore but others will definitely hold this against you. I would if I was the hiring manager after wasting so much of the hiring company’s time and resources. Cadence is a great company. Not knowing the details unless it is project related I am surprised you are looking at Apple over Cadence.

Western Digital KgsL80 Oct 24, 2020

I don’t think you made a commitment by accepting the offer. It is at-will employment.

Amazon nXPH71 Oct 24, 2020

This is false. Employment is at will. They fire you or you leave at any time. That is what he/she signed. I was in a similar situation recently and I did what was best for me. I asked myself the following question: if the company I am about to join happened to be able to double it's income just by firing me, would they fire me? ... Given that the answer to that question is an obvious YES, leaving for a better compensation at any moment is reasonable as well
