Got offered for Principal Software Engineer Grade 4 in Bay area Base - 210k Bonus - 10% RSU - 80k/4yrs No joining bonus Howz grade hierarchy like at Cadence in comparison to Synopsys/AMD. Am I being lowballed? Cadence have no signing bonus policy? I have much more RSUs at my current firm. Current TC : 225K Please suggest

EDA is a shitty field when talking about stock grants. Also note that the stock vesting schedule is yearly, not monthly or at least quarterly like other companies. It would be a huge difference when you are considering jumping ship. Also the refresher is like peanuts, 0 or like $2000 worth of stock. Please make sure to confirm these information with your recruiter before you sign the offer.

Salary looks competitive. Sign on RSU is low, so is bonus.
Solid base. Note that your level doesn’t usually get yearly refreshers. Sign on bonus could definitely be given. Please talk to your recruiter. What’s your experience? Try for Sr. Principal as CDNS has highly inflated titles and that’s now spreading slowly to competitor companies as well.
EDA (Electronic Design Automation) field pays low. That’s because margin is lower than typical cloud software companies. Don’t expect good salary bump even if you get promoted. This offer is fair by EDA standards, not great. Cadence / Synopsys going to have a great time this decade due to Hardware AI boom, so you can definitely coast and see if you are happy.
