California: HR recruiter wouldn't give me salary range
I have an offer for a non tech role in the Bay Area. I got the grade level of the job and asked what the range is and the internal HR recruiter refused to provide it and said it's only shared with hiring managers. California law says companies have to share the salary range when asked. Obviously I want an offer so I won't report the company but have others been successful in getting a range from recruiters? It was outdated for this level and much lower than my existing offer, which I'm trying to negotiate up

Ok, so if they aren't following the law, why do you want to work there? Do what you want, but that says alot about how they will treat you as an employee
The law is pretty BS. There is no way to enforce it.
They don’t have to share the range. The law says they can’t ask you how much money you are making at your current employer
That's not true. Don't provide advices that you havent fully researched. Companies in California ALSO must provide a range when asked.
Mason93 is correct - new law says the potential employer must tell you the salary range AND cannot ask you for your current comp.
