I guess we are that “dumb”. Poverty rate only reflects wealth inequality, not actually poor. All the tech workers here are all a contributing factor of this inequality. Immigrants does creates wealth, as many of the tech companies are created by first and second generation of immigrants. But that does not means the wealth has to be distributed evenly.

It's not what I want. It's why Californians voted in Gavin Newsom to "solve the housing crisis". The hold that NIMBYS have on this state is ridiculous. Baby Boomers are pretty much extorting the wealth out of the state.

California isn’t poor. It has a budget surplus larger than the national spending of some countries.

There are two kinds of foreigners: one that creates wealth and one that sucks up national resources. What if I told you American laws systematically deny the wealth-creating-foreigners any opportunity to immigrate at all? We all know this, it is by design.

Your premise is wrong. Immigration does not create wealth. The USA is populated almost entirely by immigrants and their descendants; we can see what a shithole we are now in 2019, after 400 years of unyeliding immigration. Compare that to China, which has almost no immigrants.
Sure On a long enough time span everyone’s an immigrant. That’s a really mindless point and it doesn’t get you off the hook of explaining the ramifications of the policy in California over the last 30 years.
It’s not a paradox, it’s called wealth inequality. The US is rich, but keeps many people in poverty.
But we’re comparing states. Why does California have so much more Poverty? Why does California have so much more inequality? Why is the middle class leaving California at such high rates? This is all relative to other states so we can actually have a meaningful conversation
Poverty where and for whom? Urban developers, large California growers, Target/Walmart... or agricultural workers, logistics workers, retail workers, renters? California is booming for Gavin Newsom and Tech bosses.
