I currently live in the US and I applied to a bunch of roles at a company and got a ton of rejections except for one role, which is for the Paris office (tbh I’m not sure how that happened, but I am a dual US/EU citizen so it’s legally easy and possible). I didn’t even realize it was for the office until the recruiter called to tell me that I passed the first round and that the paris office needs time to figure out their head count but I could still proceed to next round if I wanted to immediately. I’m open to moving to Europe as that’s where my family is but… I also wanted to keep living in the US for the salary. Can I ask, at this stage, if I could be considered for another office? Or if I could be working from the US? So far the interview has been super general. Thanks! TC 🥜
Yes, but the answer is probably no, as the position is needed for that job market. Now if you wanted Berlin instead of Paris, that's probably more doable. Anyways, just ask.
I’m (probably needlessly) nervous about asking in a way that causes me to get rejected as I really like the company. Should I wait until I (hopefully) have an offer?
It's up to you. If this is a deal breaker for you, tell them right now. Otherwise, wait.
