Was reached out to by a recruiter @ Accenture for a Data Strategy Consultant within the Applied Intelligence practice (?). Good phone screen, next interview is next week. My background is 4 YOE developing integrations and automations at Capgemini for our Adobe partnership. Due to dynamics of our team, we get to wear multiple hats, so have spent the last 4 years supporting the entire process from sales through delivery. Wanted to get into FAANG SWE, but since my experience has skewed mostly enterprise SaaS/consulting - I cannot get past the data structures and algs. I just got a $130k verbal from Adobe to do the exact same thing I’m doing now (current TC $85k) but for their professional services team instead. I would rather go for Accenture - I think it’s be a better learning opportunity and chance to develop myself, but can I get near $130k at Accenture? Location is Dallas. #accenture #consulting #capgemini #adobe #dallas #finance
FAANG interviews have nothing to do with past experience, only leetcode and system design.
Yeah, I figured that out.
Yes you can. Try to see if they can bring you in as manager L7. Range is 120-180k.
You don’t want manager with 4 yoe. Setting you up for failure
I know managers with 4 yoe and they are solid
No
Then what’s a range?
Test
Pong
If they bring u in as a C3/4 then you can def get 150/160 esp since it’s a strategy role but make sure u negotiate for it
Thank you!!!
You’re welcome!
130K base? Prob not. First year TC? Perhaps. I came in with 6 YOE at 150 base, but that included a clearance premium in the DC area. The more important question is what is your end goal? Is it FAANG SWE? If so, Accenture may not be the stepping stone you’re looking for. If just FAANG in general, then it could set you up nicely for other roles.
I think my goal is to actually stay AWAY from SWE. My background is in CS, I know I could eventually get into FAANG SWE if I set myself up over the next 12-18 months. I figured: rather than spend a year or two as an SWE with a goal of getting to FAANG SWE, why not just use my existing experience (in IT Consulting) to continue down the client facing, consulting path. TC is very important to me at this stage (have to pay for grad school). It seems my non-SWE choices given the circumstances are consulting (Accenture) or enterprise SaaS (Adobe).
Then I think Accenture might be a good move for you if you can get a desirable comp package. I do think 130 is a stretch at your YOE as a non-SWE
Comparing Adobe to Accenture is not fair. If you want to be in touch with core technology then go with Adobe. The nature of work will be totally different in Adobe vs Accenture as you move up in the ladder.
You’re right. I believe Accenture aligns better with my future goals and development (an opportunity to branch into data strategy consulting). I posted this because I already got a verbal offer at Adobe, and wondering if I can expect similar at Accenture.
There is no guarantee in Accenture that you will be working on what you like or what your skill or goal is. If there is no role for your skill then you are supposed to work on whatever is available.
$130k is realistic at Accenture if you are coming in at level 7 (Manager). If not, it will be tough
Undergrad is CS, grad degree is IT/Management.
