Expecting a little one soon! But I also have plans to quit and move on from my current company... Of course, I’d like to take full advantage of the 18 week paternity leave policy... So.... can I simply give my two week notice when I return from paternity leave? What are the repercussions? What else do I need to consider?
Why would they be burning bridges? If they give proper notice, that he was on paternity leave just before should be irrelevant.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the decision. I'm saying don't be surprised if the move leaves a bad taste in their mouths.
Let’s just say it’s not illegal to be an asshole
The company would have no issue firing him the day after he got back if they didn’t want his position anymore. He should do what’s best for him.
Come on it’s bay.. you have 100 companies to work. Who care...
It is a small world. Bridges move.
In small world has 1000 companies, and u have 70 years to live
You can quit after shitting in your pants as well.
yes. it happens more than you’d think
This is burning bridges, but the degree of fire depends on the ratio of 18week/your_length_of_employment.
^^this. Also consider staying there for two more months after the leave and focus on in boarding others.
How do you know for sure that you will join your next company exactly after 20 weeks ? Anyway if you transition everything nicely it will be forgotten - but 2 weeks is too less. Take 14/16 weeks paternity and work for 6/4 weeks before leaving
I've seen someone who never came back from their paternity leave. I personally wouldn't burn Bridges like that but do it if you absolutely hate your job

Just give your team a heads up that that is what you intend to do. They will appreciate it
Sure. But when do you notify them?
