I am on h1b and just rented out my apt for few days on airbnb. Now received an email from airbnb for tax information. Going through the web it looks like there can be immigration issues with the same ? Anyone has any experience ?
They will send you a 1099
Why is this a rule? Come to America but don't be successful?
Protect others' job opportunities
What does this mean? Allows other to have one job but not two? Seems crazy to stifle immigrants from being successful
This is just like stocks - so it should be allowed. As h1 rule is that you cannot do two jobs - Airbnb ing is not a job
Not an expert but this doesn't sound right...
No W2 = not a job = it's ok.
I think its fine. I have two rental properties on h1b. This is like stocks . U r fine.
I don't think it will be legal. is this is legal you could run ads on your blog. if you find anything definite let us knoe
I asked my immigration lawyer and he said its fine. As long as u r not getting w2 u r fine . U cant manage someone else's property or do hourly paid work. U have ur own property and u can do anything u want with it
This is passive income. Will be perfectly OK. You might have bought and rented a flat as well.
Dude, thousands of Chinese investors are pouring money into Cupertino and having cash out millions in rent. They are on visitor visa.
and Seattle
If your spouse has EAD rent on her name.
LOL
On an H-1B visa you're not supposed to earn anything except from your employer. So this income would not be okay from USCIS perspective
Nonsense. This would mean that anyone who is on H1-B cannot buy dividend playing stocks because you then earning extra money.
investment income != earnings income
