So Google records me (an employee) in their building (which is normal). But they also perform automatic advanced analytics (computer vision / machine learning) on the cc tv footage, indexing my face (my faceID) and tags all events (eating, walking, holding an item, color of the shirt I am wearing, who I am talking to etc), and I have no clue this analytics is being done all the time, 24/7 and automatically by machines. 1. Can I sue them for violating privacy, especially the detailed automatic analysis of events ? 2. Am I looking at any money here? 3. Storage and manual audit of cctv footage is the norm. But what seems unfair is the usage of my video data for Computers to automatically index things and perform full search on events, without me being aware of it and the company failing to declare that they do this beforehand PS: I asked Google for all my footage or samples and they declined. #tech #privacy #bigbrother #fang #law
Theoretically absolutely. But I Guarantee some document you signed somewhere down the line gave up your right to privacy at the office
Anything that happens on their property. They're pretty much free to do whatever they want with, except probably in bathroom. Pretty sure, but not a lawyer
Can't I ask my video on their property ? And all of my visitors
You forfeit all rights at work. They can even spy you in a bathroom stall and you can’t do anything
I kinda feel violated about this too. Like they are tracking how many times I get off my desk, use the MK, what clothes I wear, or how many times I use the bathroom. Cringy. But can't do anything about it 🤷
The folks involved in setting these systems up are traitors to humanity.
No, as you are already on notice that your actions are being recorded and have no expectation of privacy.
Maybe I should take it easy on the free snacks and drinks.
I was thinking about the same thing lol
Yeah Sue them
You have no privacy at work. If they are located in NYC and they did that without a notice for non employees, you can start a class action lawsuit.
They do this for anyone and everyone at google NYC
Contact a class action lawyer for that. If they do that for visitors without notice, then yes.
