Can I tell my manager that I cannot complete same story points as others in the team?

We are a team of 4 developers and I am the slowest one, meaning, I cannot complete same amount of story points as other developers on the team complete in a sprint. I always work extra hours to be on par with them. I don’t know if others do the same but I don’t want to continue doing this as it is stressful for me. Is it ok to tell my manager and scrum master that I cannot complete same number of story points as others are doing? My Scrum master and Product Owner says at the beginning of each sprint that “ let’s make sure everyone has same amount of work” #Agile #scrum

How are the story points derived? Do you vote on the complexity and effort required for stories? Did you join the team recently?

By complexity and effort required. I am not new to the team but others are smarter than me.

Are you an eng? There’s no smartness involved at our stage yet... it’s all practice... write more code so you’ll get more confident! Work nights if you should it’s the only way to catch up. After that you can have true WLB without worrying

Don't ask how you can get away with doing less work. Ask for help on how to better utilize your skills or on help gaining skills so you can be more valuable to the team. Just saying you can't do as much points sounds more like giving up.

I can’t believe “Scrum Master” as a job still exists

At salesforce it’s an add on role that an IC in the team takes. You can also be an IC on one team and a scrum master on another if both the teams are under the same manager. As a company we believe in burying everyone under way too much process.

Just estimate your stories bigger on the scrum board if possible

Are you ok if the manager says your pay will be lowered accordingly? If you are 70% as productive as others you should be paid 70% right?

Ask for some mentoring, good luck! You're worth more than the amount of points you can complete.

Agile is dead. Unless you have robots with same hardware as engineers, no two engineers should be expected to perform identically or estimate the same story points for a given task. Let people do what they are good at in the time given. Define goals at start of quarter and measure on delivery, not how many story points they get done.
