I currently work in Singapore with TC 175K USD and a 10% tax rate. I have an opportunity to interview on-site at Spotify for a PM role in Stockholm. Can they at least match what I currently make after tax? If not it's probably not worth flying Economy all the way there.
Cost of living is way lower there. So expect to have a lower offer.
Doesn't seem much lower. Their tax rates are high. Housing is scarce. I don't have/want kids so the free education, maternity holiday perks are irrelevant.
Heard great things about Spotify products from a friend recently, and life is Europe is also very enticing! Also, the music business is growing gangbusters and looks like the trend will continue for a while, so it will be a great place to grow and launch interesting products. Curious to know which company you are at and what you do there; I am trying to learn about the job market for PMs in Singapore.
Have you read your question twice ? Do you think you have given anyone here any useful information whatsoever. It is like saying I make 100k GBP in UK, will Google Singapore match it ? At least give some info about your role, level, firm, yoe for folks to give you some insights
Once comparing different locations, it all boils down to cost of living, how much you will be able to save and quality of life not TC
Expect about 75.000 SEK from Spotify Stockholm. They won’t match 175k for a PM.
Super helpful. Thank you
np. that’s the offer I got 2y ago. Uber’s TC was more than twice and they did not budge.
Even if you fly out, you probably won’t get an offer. Even if you get an offer, probably won’t match your expectations. Even if it matches your expectations, you probably will be pissed off how cheap they were with the flight and reject it. Save yourself a trip.
The real question is how are you getting 175k USD in Singapore? That’s 240k sgd a year with 10% tax! I would move to Singapore in a heartbeat if I could get that TC over there. If you don’t mind me asking what company pays so much over there?
Serious! I’d be interested in know which companies pay PMs that much in Singapore. I may have an offer coming and heard salary bands are much lower in Singapore vs USA
Answering the questions, I have PM experience but currently work in a non-PM role. Tenured non-FAANG US tech company employee with a reasonably good performance across multiple appraisal cycles.
Great thing to ask the company. But a free vacation to Stockholm is worth.
Not vacay either Because their stupid embassy gave me a 3 day visa even though I've visited the EU twice in the last 2 years. That pissed me off to no end. Plus they insist on flying me Economy for a 15 hour journey because, Policy!
Ah that sucks about the 3 day visa :/
