Can i get into PM roles?
Hey everyone, i am a masters candidate at arizona state. My major is Information Technology and i wish to have a career in Product Management or Program Management roles. I know the journey to find job will be tough, but according to your personal opinion should i work in SW roles for a couple years and later transition to PM role or can i grad a PM role now? Yeah it was supposed to be robin to my batman post. But its taking the entire attention!
My major is in Information Technology as well and I went that route because at my school it was actually more coding than the CS route which touched more on hardware and assembly language. I was a software engineer for a few years and then moved into a PM role at that same company. From there I went to a PM role at another company. I think software to product in the same org is the easiest transition from my experience and I was able to get higher up in PM faster than my peers because of it.
