I've been interviewing for Product Management positions in they Bay Area with zero success (30+ applications, few on-sites, no offer) for last few months. Today I randomly clicked a Triplebyte's ad, went through the generalist's quiz and then I was told I was among the top 2% of candidates who had taken their quiz. Why I’m asking: I have 8+ yoe as a full stack software engineer but it has been over 10 years since it was my full time job. I still like coding. In the meantime, I was a data engineer, a sales engineer and a PM (each transition was about flowing naturally into a more interesting job with more responsibilities and a better paycheck). Does "top 2%" mean I still have a solid chance landing a good job as a SWE? Also, the next step is a 35 minutes long “placement call”. Anybody knows what it is? Other threads at Blind were mentioning exhaustive 2 hours phone inyerviews. TC: $230k
No. You get into the "top x%" just by answering questions randomly. It's just a funnel for their next set of video interviews.
With 8 yoe YOE you don’t keep some random company tell you where you belong.
My 8+ YoE is 8+ y/o.
I got the same and had probably 8 companies ask for an Onsite with me, so yeah probably.
