I assume you can’t get an Apple laptop, right? What about Linux? Can you use other browsers than IE?
Curious about this too
To some degree, yes to all of the above. But, depending on the team there is a good chance windows will be required for certain tools. And sometimes edge makes life easier for some of the single sign on applications.
Yes you probably have to use windows to dev and office products for collaboration. Other than that you can do whatever you want
Yes that's how you become trillion dollar company.
You can sometimes use other tools but everything in Microsoft assumes Windows, so it's just easier to use Windows.
Completely not true. You use what you want to get the job done but it depends on the team. In SF most use apple
Noone uses ie
Some people didn’t even use Edge as default until it started using Chromium
Frontend devs did for a while. To keep up with it's crappy JS standards
At Microsoft, have mac book pro. It doesn't really matter though, we're pretty big on dev containers here.
Nah not even a little bit in Satya Nadella's Microsoft. You use what you feel comfortable with, as long as it helps you be more productive and gets your job done faster.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Isn’t it a pain to use windows for coding and development
I’ve found it surprisingly good for Dev work. Coming from using Mac and Linux for 3 years prior to joining msft
No actually. It's all the same. You just need to get used to PowerShell, and even that's not necessary anymore because of WSL. There are some perks too, like having notepad++
