I have no clue why I decided to come from India to this horrible country. 1.) Housing prices and rent are astronomical. Imagine Bay Area prices for 1/3 wage even for tech. 2.) Cold as shit 80% of the year. 3.) Healthcare is a scam. 6 month hospital waits are common. 4.) They let every breathing person into this country. Get a fake diploma and suddenly you are a Canadian. Common to see phd graduates driving Uber. 5.) Every IT person I know come here only as entry to USA. 6.) only people who like it here are old white people. They own a ton of real estate and have good retirement benefits/social welfare 7.) Indians specifically Punjabis who came here in the 90s like it here too. Iāve seen 10 Punjabis live in one house each making 15 CAD per hour. They own farms and lots of real estate in Vancouver area so they donāt need to work. Overall this country is a huge Ponzi scheme. India might have its flaws but it has a better quality of life. Moving back this summer. TC: 130k CAD
Didnāt you do any research bro before moving?
Agreed. Sounds like there was no due diligence done.
I guess one possible reason is that Canada has gone in the gutter too quickly so people are more shocked?
Look at the quality of Indians immigrating to Canada regardless of Punjabi or not. How do you define Quality ? See the college tier they graduated from and their stream. You will find a pattern.
Oouch
We chose not to move to Canada in spite of having a PR. We made multiple visits to Canada after getting the PR and lived there for 1-1.5 months in each visit. Concluded thatās itās worse than India - in terms of career growth, family ties, weather, healthcare. Chose to stay back in the US. Got a GC after roughly 15 years of total wait. Would not have regretted moving back to india either. Have zero regrets about wasting Canada PR.
Duh.. you got GC, why would you regret š
Trust me man. I wouldāve had zero regrets even if I had moved to India. I was one of those people who landed in the US by chance and not by choice. And I didnāt have strong opinions about US vs India. I donāt even today. But Canada just felt like a step down.
You failed to do any research apparently and now you think it's a scam ? Sad.
You realise it's a scam and then do research - that's a typical user journey of a scam victim
This is all true, but complaining and at same time being the cause (they let everyone in), is amazing!
Got a PR and our initial plan was to settle in Canada. But research and interviews with friends revealed the problems OP mentioned. We are still planning to go to Canada for a year or two and try L1A. Our main motivation is to live in and visit another country. We want to take this time to explore Canada and to live in a place where it snows for a winter or two. But pretty much giving up settling in Canada. It is either US or India for us too.
Ponzi scheme - 100% Only dumb ppl would disagree. Better or worse than India is a different story tho and varies by individual.
One of my cousins relocated to Canada a few months back and their family back home is celebrating this move by distributing sweets. I was thinking who's gonna tell them the truth.
Lmao imagine the delusion of thinking india is better than Canada or another first world country. Indias per capita gdp is lower than Nigeria and Bangladesh. 51% of children in india are lead poisoned. India has by far the highest number of malnourished children in the world. Indian cities are the most polluted in the world. An average Indian lives 10 years less than average Canadian. 25 Indians contribute the same to the gdp as 1 Canadian. Indians routinely measure as amongst the unhappiest people in the world. Indians routinely rank as the most hardworking people in the world by number of hours worked, and rank bear bottom when it comes to the amount made for such work. Indians from upper middle class families with parental property or top 0.001% earners. Know your privilege. Stop deluding yourself.
100%. India is a giant nationalist chamber of corruption, bad weather, poor hygiene, corrupt healthcare and law and order, worst pollution and traffic. Overall if I could move all my family to Canada I would never go back except for maybe a nostalgia trip once in a while
Averages are pretty much meaningless comparison for deciding where to live. Your individual circumstances matter a lot more.
Imagine complaining about living in a first world country
OP's points are legit
Valid points. OP wasnāt whining or moaning. OP provided valid arguments to his position.
