Canada work visa

Only serious comments pls! I have a spouse based open work permit and currently on H1B in the USA. I am thinking of going and working in Canada for 5 years and coming back on a TN visa once I get Canadian citizenship. Is this doable or am I missing any corner case here? #canada #workvisa #h1b

Do it and let us know how it goes If you were really serious the last thing you’ve done is to ask random folks on blind Visa folks are so desperate they’ll do every fckk move but just don’t want to go back home Why can’t you have a peaceful life back home?

Looks realistic but take other factors into consideration such as comp and spouse job etc. I went down this path and left it

Microsoft burrritoo Jan 19, 2023

Now where are you and at what point in the path you left

No not doable. Please go back.

I am in Canada now not sure why people come here to work if they have chance work in USA.

Citizenship path is straightforward and easier in Canada

Canada is not that bad as well, less money, but the quality of life is very good!

Expedia Group Aragon_ Jan 19, 2023

Yeah should be doable but that’s a very aggressive timeline. I hope you go to Canada directly on PR though. You will need to be in Canada with PR for 3 years before being eligible for Citizenship application. If you are here on a temporary residency visa that time counts as half and up to 1 year Max. And I hear citizenship applications takes 2 yearish but May take longer..

Once you apply for citizenship, I don’t think you’ve stay in Canada. But if you’re planning for TN, you need to get the passport.

If you get a job offer in canada then yes gooooooooo

Go home and be happy. Canada is a frozen tundra with no good jobs in tech. Don't get me started on pay/cost of living

Wait till your balls freeze over and have to wait days to get into ER

Do you already have Canadian Permanent residency? If so doable, if you’re on a visa in Canada then moving to Permanent residency (usually process take 1-2years, however, there are significant backlog due to covid) and then eventually citizenship. This will take more than 5 years total, with current wait times you’re looking at 8-10 years.

T-Mobile Spider🥤 Jan 19, 2023

Yes, I would say 6 to 8 years

Tesla joeshmo Jan 19, 2023

Yup second this, 5 years is very optimistic (even if you already have PR). I’d say 7/8 years without it and 4/6 with it

Canada will be tough if you ultimately wish to stay in US. Also depends on where u are in US and where you wanna go in Canada. Its cold there. Job opportunities are somewhat ok due covid wfh but not great. Pay sucks. You will feel like wasting precious years of your life earning less. Also on TN you won’t be eligible for GC ever. H1b is still better.

Not true, i got my green card while on TN visa

Interesting. What category did you apply in ?
