Not sure if burnt out. I want more $$ but realistically I just scroll through Reddit and Instagram. I work out regularly, have friends, sex often, eat well. I survived AWS and other hard companies working 50 hours a week. But now I can barely be motivated to write two lines of code. Snap is depressing, 4 day RTO where I just sit in meeting with folks from other teams. Lots of pressure to execute but work is so boring. Turns out I don’t enjoy mobile code at all, much less Snap’s ancient mobile native code and hacky layers of C++ and JS on top. Should I just get pipped and take a break? TC 420k
you prob need a career change. A new modern codebase, a new position (eng manager), or just a leave of absence for mental recharge
Same here, i used to want to grind for promos and interviews but i literally have no motivation and just coasting instead
I think you are languishing and a tad depressed and less hope. You need to shake it up so you feel upbeat, looking forward to each day.
its not Snap
Same here. I relate with everything you said.
Probably you made enough money already or is that your work env is toxic
Oh I remember you from some old posts. I am ex-AWS and mobile too. I joined my current company (tier 2) and legit burned out too. It is very very boring and uninspiring, the stack is also not what I expected. I am considering the same option now...
This was similar to me last year. "Back pain. Screentime. What works. (Health & Wellness)" https://www.teamblind.com/us/s/OGchfqkV
I did this 4 years ago this month (except I just quit). Felt great at first, but then you know what happened next if you've done the math.
You didnt find job for some time due to covid? When did you join next job?
