I recently accepted a job at C1 and start next week and I learned something during the interview process that would help others who are thinking about joining C1. Important Thing Learned: The notes your interviewers take on you during the Power Day greatly affects your TC. Obviously doing well on any interview gives you better chances of negotiating higher TC but it was super drastic at C1. Top interviewees will max out the 'anticipated salary range'. I had 2 interviewers tell me that most interviews they do they don't have people ask questions and really understand the problem before starting, so if you're able to do that that could definitely make you stand out. The interviewers then meet to come to a consensus on whether or not they recommend you. You goal should be to get 2 of 4 interviewers to 'Strongly Recommend'. My recruiter told me 1 in 6 people get 1 interviewer to 'Strongly Recommend' while more like 1 in 50 or 100 get 2 or more interviewers to 'Strongly Recommend'. If you get multiple strongly recommends, then you have a good chance of maxing out the TC for your level. YOE: 5 TC: $209-$217 #capitalone
C1 isn’t like FAANG where they match a team after clearing the interviews. At C1 or other similar companies you basically interview to a specific team and if you’re a fit you get an offer. The final TC is based on your negotiation skills and not interview performance.
It’s not true. We generally don’t interview for a specific team.
Agree with happy, I just went through the interview process and what they do now is match you with a team after you've been accepted.
Which level/title?
Based on his experience probably principal level(means senior software engineer)
Correct^
What level LC do they ask? Easy to Med or Med to hard? Also, any system design questions?
LC Easy to Med, System design, Behavioral, and Case are the 4 interviews
Thanks! Much appreciated
many contraDICtory statements here😂. OP, tell us something new.
OP what was your offer??
I was given the max due to my interview performance. Or at least that’s what they told me.
What role and level and what were your #s?
This really is not accurate. As long as you can do good enough to get the offer, you can negotiate for max salary for your level. I know some coworkers who did really well, but have poor negotiation skills, they got the lower end of range for their offer. If you want to max out offer, best to have other offers you can use to negotiate.
Might also depend on the recruiter then? Mine said that they wouldn't put it in to the comp team for approval of a max salary without doing well the interviews.
