I’m about to have a conversation with a recruiter with C1 tomorrow about salary (Software engineer/Senior Associate). I tried to look at levels.fyi but I’m in Atlanta and there are no salaries for here. C1 is opening an office here in early 2023. Any suggestions for what city I should be using to base my salary estimate? I feel like Atlanta is often seen as LCOL but I live in the actual city. (Yes, C1 will pay less than Microsoft, but I have personal reasons for making the change) TC: ~170k, 4.5YOE
~150k base, 15k bonus. No rsu
I have same YOE as OP and this is what the recruiter told me.
I was only offered 125k base and that was after negotiating… annoying
Senior associate is a hard down level, I would definitely ask for a bit more but Meta is accurate.
What do you mean by down level?
Senior associate is basically a position that requires 1 year of experience. Most people with 3-5 can be Principal Associate.
You don't *have* to say a number, postpone money talk until after they make an offer and negotiate, they'll give you a range but just say "I'm looking for the right fit first, love what C1 does blah blah" https://blog.interviewing.io/exactly-what-to-say-when-recruiters-ask-you-to-name-the-first-number/
Update: I was offered SE. 125k base, 15k signing, no RSU. …
I would just tell them what you currently make and ask them to match. It’s honestly not worth it.

Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
Prob close to Richmond for comparison (that's also the remote based band) and for thats role you'll probably be around your current tc.
