Just informed I’m being promoted, no numbers given yet. Curious if anyone has come onboard as an SA SWE recently that can share where they’re at. Leadership showed some signs of awakening to our attrition problems over the summer with a job family investment, but AFAIK salaries across the industry have continued on their tear so I’m hopeful this bonus/promotion season will be even better. #engineering #software #swe Location: McLean 1.5 YoE TC $118k
Might wanna ask the internal channel and look at levelsfyi
I made 133k in McLean. I’m sure with the bump it’ll be closer to 138-140

TC or base?
Will be there any salary difference for same role between Mclean and Richmind locations?
McLean is at least $10k higher because of cost of living adjustment.
10% differential between salary min-midpoint-max ranges for Richmond vs NOVA, with NOVA higher
Ask for at least 135k and 15-20k sign on
As an SA midpoint is around 160k for SF… I hope you get more than 10% to land closer to 150 … SF and NoVa are fairly inline with pay ranges
What are you smoking in SF lol SF along with NYC is about 8% higher than nova
Sorry for changing the thread. Little off topic but how's NoVa especially considering the crime rate?
Yeah, crime is fine, it’s CoL that gets you. Even living outside DC but near a metro stop is too expensive to feel financially responsible. It’s painful. That said, DC is on my shortlist for great cities in North America.
Tons of stuff to do without the soul crushing density of NYC. Tons of green space, and nice outdoor areas like Great Falls and the Chesapeake are decently close Very well laid out for transit <— this is the biggest point for the future — I think DC is going to get better at a rate far faster than most Big American cities, esp if they start congestion pricing cars
