What’s Chase like? I’m currently a PA SWE at Capital One and am getting reached out for lead roles at Chase. I like C1 but I know a few exec directors at Chase and career progression there might be a little faster. Looking for input on culture, tech, hybrid status & comp Chicago Office TC: ~180k
Chase ❌❌
Are you going to Chase that TC?
That’s where I’m not sure it’s worth it, I’d want 20-30% more than where I’m at
It’s the same or worst. If you jump go to fang or similar
Chase pays on par or less than C1 outside of SF. Chase is also stricter with RTO/in-office than C1. Go big tech or risk dealing with the same BS.
What is C1’s RTO policy?
Supposed to be 2.5x per week but it's not enforced in any way. Some nudging email that has been sent out but no talk of discipline and the threshold to get one is much lower than 2.5x per week.
To give a real answer Chase is a great company , I believe the advice you’ll get on platforms like this one is going to be negative because ppl are miserable.. My team is great for example, work life balance , no matter what team you’re on is great compared to most companies .
I agree, it depends on the team. But Chase sucks overall. Comparable low pay, full of politics, below average benefits, worse culture. If you want to play safe, maybe Chase is the answer.
Capital One is lost - one of many companies now that used to be fine and were ruined by bad leadership and whatever is in the air in the current times. I was looking at Chase and am just seeing more and more bad things about how it's getting worse like a lot of other companies that used to be alright to work for, so have scratched it off the list. Plus I think they are trying to force RTO if I remember right.
Chase is hybrid, only Executive and managing directors are required to be in office 100% . Also you should know your experience is team dependent. I don’t get how ppl say F the whole company because of one team of thousands
One thing I will say is at 50 billion profit your not gonna be laid off if your competent
One thing about Chase is they require almost an exact match on tech skills and scope. ex. If you work on a Go team, they will not hire for a Java role even if you've done Java in the past. Hard to uplevel past Lead because their teams are bigger and they effectively want their managers to have the scope of Senior Managers at Capital One.

Go to Chase. Capital One is definitely a lot worse than Chase when it comes to stack ranking. Ex Chase employee here
