Thank you AAPL and NVDA
Feeling a bit lost. I ran a startup through series A and we decided to pivot. I separated from my cofounders and they went off to build something completely different. I decided to take a break and go back into corporate. Haven’t had much luck finding anything. Took a temporary entry level gig at a company but it’s hardly challenging. Any advice would be appreciated. I used to run our sales, marketing and strategy teams. Most of my prior experience has been in smb sales but not sure I even want to go back to sales.
Have you thought about doing consulting work? You can pick the difficulty of the projects you work on if you want a challenge. Just a thought.
That’s why you shouldn’t start your career with co-founding a startup if you want to move to other companies later (with some exceptions). It’s hard for hiring managers in other corporations to evaluate your prior experience. Lower your expectations and try to find a position that has good potential. Your startup experience may help you prove yourself and move up quickly
Probably might want to consider watering down the resume to sales manager or director. Then metadata keyword match the position responsibilities to experience in the resume. It might be tough for corporate to consider cofounders
I had similar experiences. It took me some effort and time to adjust. One good book I highly recommend: “what got you here won’t get you there” by Marshall Goldsmith.
If you have SMB sales experience I know my friend at OfferUp are hiring in Seattle.
Are you interested in product markering? Tailor your resume for the role and try to get a referral.
