Anyone shifted away from traditional SAP work? I've lead delivery in data migration, PI/PO, MDG integration etc, but am looking for something more innovative and a more modern tech stack. Suggestions what maybe a good fit with my previous experiences. The most recent "innovative" thing I've worked on was a cloud migration of data from BODS to cloud using DBT. #sap #cloud #data #tech
Maybe go for a bi position at a smaller place. There will definitely be a huge shock for you moving from Boeing to and full fledged tech company. At least you can start reapplying python etc before you decide what to do next.
I've worked in Managment consulting most of my career. But I think it'll still be a shock. Boeing is slow, and consulting is mostly giving input, project management, team leading, and like 10% hands on hands on for me. Maybe more data engineering over leagacy BI tech like Terradata, power BI, etc. I hate legacy enterprise tools. Thanks for the response btw
The technical interview barrier for tech is pretty steep when you are changing careers. So you might end up spending a long time even trying to crack entry level positions. It's better if you go to a smaller place that will weigh your previous experience and allow you to learn on the job. At least that's what I did and it was a good use of my time.

I moved away from SAP, on to full stack development with mostly C#/React/Java projects. But this was many years ago. Best decision of my life. I had lots of experience with java before doing SAP so if you don’t have any experience outside of ABAP it could be rough at first to go the full SWE side. So with that said, the easiest path might be a DevOps engineer. Since you’re used to a lot more configuration than you are code most likely. And DevOps can be like that a lot of times.
Thanks for the reply. Before SAP I was in BI, left because I hated the stack. I enjoy messing around with other tech, played around with python data libraries, microservies using flask and using containers, don't like admin style work or old enterprise tech. Anything else you'd suggest, and what process would you recommend to move out? More certs and training, leet code?
