Hello people, I will soon finish my MS and look out for jobs. I incredibly love "systems" topics like: - Computer Architecture (+ System Architecture, CXL, PCIe) - Operating Systems - FPGA programming using HLS I have around 5yrs work experience in embedded systems device driver development for PCIe. I am finding it tough to decide if its good to switch to modeling topics like Performance modeling OR become a firmware Engineer and play around bringing-up new devices. In the long run, I would like to be an Architect (either Software or System). Can someone please advice me as to: 1) What kind of companies to target to ? 2) What roles do I fit well: in Software companies OR Hardware companies ? Note: I am trying out computer architecture projects in workload-characterization (summer internship) and vector processor performance study (current master thesis). Will this help to find a comp-arch related job because I am not too much into RTL kind of topics (I can understand verilog/VHDL code though) ? Also, I am also NOT interested in AI, ML related topics and I do not intend to pursue a PhD. Please advice. #hardware #semiconductor #systems #firmware
