My current role in Tech Business Ops involves maintaining performance dashboards for engineering teams. These teams work on ~100 products and their performance is reported to C-suite on a monthly basis. My day to day is all about working on Tableau dashboards and sometimes Looker Studio for some of the reporting. The data is ready out there by end of each month and all I do pull it into the dashboard. It took me 3-4 months to get used to all of the monthly reporting requirements. Once in a while, when there is a requirement to track a new metric, there are discussions involved with engineering teams and C-suite on how to measure and track the metric. Apart from that there is a budget tracking as well on a monthly basis. My previous work experience of 3 years at a consulting firm involved all kinds of financial analysis for a wide range of clients. These financial analyses were basically supporting client's financial audits. So that role involved pulling financial data from every corner and reporting on it. It involved central coordination with various people in all kinds of departments and making sure the numbers are correct. Considering my previous work experience and my current role, my question is what kind of roles should I be looking for going ahead? My interests are management roles in Business Operations/ Finance Operations. I'm also considering senior level FP&A roles. But apart from that, is there something that is more relevant to my skills? Appreciate your feedback!
