I am an average developer(generalist) in early 30s with no domain expertise. I am paid average and I make enough to take care of my family. I think I have good WLB but am struggling to make the next big move in my career. I tried management but can't stand meetings nor feel productive if I am not coding. I do ok architecture but was never confident that I can be an architect. I cannot spend crazy hours at startups. I struggle to clear FANG and similar companies. There is always that 1 round that screws things up. I plan to practice/interview and hopefully find a better paying position. Any one else feel the same? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Try management but get training and mentorship. Coding is eventually for the birds. Either AI or a 3rd world cheaper coder will replace you.
3rd world cheaper coders? Peeps were saying that for last 25 years?
Always make time to keep learning and stay on top of emerging trends and tech. LC and do grok the design course. Then try FAANG again.
