Hello, so long story short I(title: Data Analyst) used to work for a startup that did lot of BI/Data oriented work but got acquired by another company and my role got changed. I ended up getting assigned as a Financial Analyst and haven't been really enjoying it the last couple months. I've been with the acquired company for the last four months and would like to move to the BI team(that is planning on expanding this year) but I've no idea on how to bring this up to my manager(specially after my team spent good 1-3 months training me on how to do my current work). I've talked to my senior analyst and he recommends that I wait at least a year before requesting a change(because it's only been 4 months after the merger) but I honestly dont know if I can handle 8 more months of this. Has anybody ever been in a similar situation or have any tips on how I address this issue?
