Will Msft lay off people in 2024 given that Bing failed to gain from OpenAI integration and Google is planning a massive ads layoff?
What makes you think bing failed, DAU increased a lot since GPT integration
Microsoft lays off people every year irrespective of recession, pandemic or economic conditions.
True. Its usually small and quickly hidden.
I think all big size companies layoff the bloat. Isn’t ebay laying off folk every year?
Isn't Microsoft doing much better with azure and copilots and office 360?
Latest quarterly earnings did show good results for Microsoft 365 and yes azure is doing fine too.
All big techs will
That Google ad layoff is from a clickbait article. They are restructuring which will result in some layoffs but not 30K. MSFT lays people off every year regardless of how things go. They usually happen in July. Nowadays, every quarter seems like some people are getting laid off. If you are asking about mass layoff like what Satya announced then that would depend on when the next time SLT can take advantage of market conditions. When revenue starts to decline or something but nobody knows when that will be.
We layoff in every quarter, a week before quarterly results. There has been no quarter in the last 8-10 quarters when there was no layoff. So yes there will be layoffs. A better question is how many will be impacted.
The vision was never to keep ChatGPT in Bing, it was always to integrate it into M365 apps and other productivity tools. Microsoft laid off 10k a year ago and just recently opened up a handful of open positions to hire. I doubt there will be any other significant layoffs, if anything they’ll just not hire anyone and let natural attrition take its course.
What's that popcorn in the option in poll?
For people who have no clue and don’t want to guess!
When blind first came out, there was no "view results" link. So people used to add a popcorn. They fixed this a few months later - but even after 2-3 years some people insist on adding a popcorn option.
