My background: Networking, virtualization and clouding. My skills: with the above mentioned skills I have programming skill in python. Now I think that the networking will die. But this job could be done either bei SWE or NE who knows scribing language. In your opinion and for the future, should I improve my programming skills and be a SWE/SDE? Should I continue learning networking and virtualization with scripting skill to automat it? PS. I like all of them. Yoe: less than one year. Thanks guyes for helping me.
Switch now to SWE
Thanks for your response Any advice? Like which language? Focus on ML /AI or just pure SWE for now?
I'm studying also now algorithms
Anyone else?
Nope. The first commenter was right, thereβs nothing to add. Go prepare for SWE interviews!
You can also consider a SRE role. At Google and other large organizations, a SRE is essentially a SWE building/owning tooling automating infrastructure. And it is more involved in architecture, scalability and operational consideration (CI/CD, self-healing, monitoring). In smaller organizations, SRE could be somewhat of a sysops/prod role with emphasis on automating manual tasks (toil).
Thanks @meros And then would be my previous experience in the service provider relevant?
And how about the TC then? The same as SWE?
Also have experience with MS technology ( AD, hyper-v, Exchange etc..) But most of my knowledge is in the network and cloud area
