Hi Everyone! I'm a 2020-2021 MS CS grad from a decent school (Top 20) I didn't get a lot of interviews during covid and I wound up taking what I got which was a very hardware centric SDE role. (Building device drivers, checking registers and the like). My title is still software engineer, but I would like to work in Full Stack development or backend. I'm having a huge amount of trouble landing interviews in new grad roles (Already 4+ months out of college and not considered for 2022 grads). 1. Should I stick it out and try to work here for a year and then switch within the company? How easy would this be in your opinion? 2. Should I start looking for interviews immediately? I'm finding this really hard since most recruiters ghost me after learning I don't have 1yr/relevant experience. Any tips? 3. Should I try to stick it out for a year and then switch companies? (I'll complete 1 year in May and I might have applied for a H1B at that point)... All I see ahead is darkness, please help me. Any advice is valuable #softwareadvice #swe #cisco #faang #career #sde #fullstackacademy #engineering #software #software #swe
Shows “top x” school doesn’t matter lol
