Summarizing events so far: * Google is dominant in AI and LLM, uses it internally and publishes papers * OpenAI releases ChatGPT based on Google's and other similar LLM work * ChatGPT takes the world by storm, becoming fastest app to reach 100M users, beating TikTok * Microsoft, a previous investor, invests even more in OpenAI and integrates it with Bing / Edge * Google feels threatened and releases a competitor called Bard * Bard's much hyped promotion video includes the AI giving a wrong factual answer and people notice * Google stock sinks 8% the next day Anything I missed.
Should we buy Google? or wait Google stock to drop a bit more? Eventually, Google will still win, no?
Think about Google's history with developing consumer facing products. The only successful ones are search and Gmail. Everything else is either acquired, doing badly, or sunset.
Weāre gonna see brain chips with AIs soon which will be like our āassistantā
We def gonna become lazy af lol
Is there a official chatgpt app? I have been using web interface even on mobile
Sorry was using the term "app" a bit liberally, I just checked some news reports on this, Reuters calls it "fastest-growing consumer application in history" which might be more accurate https://www.reuters.com/technology/chatgpt-sets-record-fastest-growing-user-base-analyst-note-2023-02-01/
Google tripped on its own dick
Stocks has nothing to do with reality. Yesterday was bad for everyone. Stop linking stock pricing to anything - it does not matter.
Yeah. Logically MSFT should have fallen same amount as ChatGPT has exact same problem. Stock market movements reflect peopleās sentiment not logic.
Bard isnāt expected to give factually right answers. Neither is ChatGPT. I do understand the circumstances make it look bad but itās nothing unexpected. Maybe their PR couldāve been better - they shouldāve avoided force fitting it as a search feature and probably just released it as a stand alone product for testing like ChatGPT. The stock drop is surely an overreaction.
honestly the stock drop is merited from the overt executive incompetence on display. if it's not a knowledge engine then 1) why fucking market it as a knowledge engine? 2) why do that considering you already run the actual best knowledge engine that exists? 3) why not fucking double check the knowledge example on the goddamn presentation using your actual knowledge engine which gives the correct fact immediately? it's not about the product being good or bad, it's about what you can tell of the company's ability to operate successfully from how they handled this. it's pathetic and amateurish and unbecoming of a trillion dollar market cap. at this point i kinda want them to lay me off already - there's clearly no bright future in this company anyway.
I think you missed Satyaās LinkedIn post yesterday releasing an upgraded ChatGPT within Bing. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/satyanadella_reinventing-search-with-a-new-ai-powered-activity-7028797559657693184-JFOq?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios
