I am curious what people think about how fast ChatGPT and how exactly it will change the industry. I think it will be like a more efficient stack overflow and reduce the number of entry level programming jobs. TC 170k
You wonât need to re-enter your resume data on the 145th iteration of MyWorkday. Thatâs the only real impact I can think of.
How ?!
I think it will replace the lowest rung of jobs. Like instead of a hr manager having 5 reports they will have maybe just 1 and use ChatGPT to write inane bullshit for them. I see it being useful wherever performative bullshit is required.
ChatGPT canât take responsibility for its mistakes, it doesnât learn from them either, and itâs effectively unaccountable to anyone because it is a machine. What is the point of using that to manage people?
Now replace ChatGPT with your manager name
My manager has human volition, he can be made to learn, and he can be accountable for his mistakes.
It will fizzle out just like AV.
Hopefully it will be plugged into capitaliq and better investment decisions can be made
If your entire job is low level excel, I got some bad newsâŚ
For now, impact is minimal, but once GPT-4 and eventually 5 come out, I expect it to be able to perform 80% of all our work, which will lead to staff reductions, but likely not to the same scale.
It can do all HR related work with 90% accuracy then just hire 5 HRs who will verify if things are ok and flow will keep going. 50 HRs come down to 5. After 4 5 years, it is coming for developers too
âBut you are taking away jobs Satya, how can you sleep at night đ˘. â I donât disagree, I just think itâs funny how this plays out. Bunch of blind folks are quick to attack when SWEs get laid off, but anyone else⌠đ¤ˇââď¸
