PayPal and Capital One (though the latter is not tech, but have a lot of SWE)
Capital one does indeed have a decent tech presence here in Chicago
I joined this year and pay is on par or better than most tech companies here at the junior to mid levels
Google & AWS have a good presence. Slalom if you’re ok with a consulting gig.
What kinda TC / benefits / projects / tech stack / work style etc are you looking for
TC 160-250 31/2 year of experience Product based company React + backend Good work life balance (4-5 hours of focused work a day) don't have to on clock to the 5pm mark
Servicenow, Salesforce, DocuSign
Heard of project44, they just had layoffs though 👀 but they’re still private so seems like a good time to get in
Meh
Working 💯 remote form chicago. But received offer from Grainger recently. You might be interested.
Does Grainger allow WFH ?
They didn’t. Asked me to come to office twice a week. That was the reason I rejected them. Even though tc was 20K more. I like being fully remote and flexible :)
If you want a smaller but rapidly growing prop trading firm check out Old Mission. Lots of opportunities to build but not be subject to a non-compete
Is it difficult to get into a trading firm? Heard trading was for only like the best mathematicians from the best schools
It varies, I've worked at firms that were very focused on pedigree and others that were less so. Solid CS fundamentals are a must along with a desire to learn more about how trading actually works.

Fully remote companies that are not in the area 😏. Otherwise Google, Citadel (though no longer based here), prop shops (Optiver, Akuna, IMC), Doordash
Yup am Chicago based and found remote to be much better, pay just isn’t great in Chicago for tech unless you want to hate your life and work at a trading firm.
Akuna allows full remote as well actually
