Hello All, I have 2 offers 1 for systems engineer position at pnnl (TC 97k + 10k joining bonus) and other for data scientist position at oracle utilities(130k). I want to know which company has better work culture. Could you please help?
Probably Oracle, it’s also got to be in a better location than PNNL
Oracle is remote. And pnnl will be in Portland. A friend said Portland is a really place.
Portland is nice. Thought maybe they were sticking you in Richland. Remote you could pick anywhere though. More growth opportunities at Oracle as well.
Culture?How old are you?
Is that a hint?
One advice is, you probably need to ask very detailed question about what is the day-to-day work as a data scientist in Oracle. Different company even teams has different definition/expectation for a data scientist.
You're right. I regret that I was not so thorough in asking this question.
This is a no brainer. Oracle
Whats level of role in Oracle ? IC2 or IC3?
I am not sure it just says data scientist
Who interviewed you for oracle? DM me
Oracle
Take the money, leave in 18-24 months
Agreed. Always take the money unless you're very financially secure.
Or take whichever has fewer working hours and PTO and etc, if you are motivated to level up skills outside of work. I wish I played hookey more at my last job like that and just studied or something
I am interested about pnnl - is that a data scientist type role too? Pnnl might be a little slow but it should have a good culture and great job security . How many yoe do you have ?
So yea.. its a data scientist type role but I don't get the title. I was also thinking about the job security.
Is it ok if I dm you ? I have always been interested in the national labs
Don't join PNNL unless you are sure you will always have projects to work on.
How can I know that already? My manager mentioned 3 projects that she has for me. That's all.
