https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cisco-lawsuit/california-accuses-cisco-of-job-discrimination-based-on-indian-employees-caste-idUSKBN2423YE I don't know much about the caste system -- is this true?
This could be true. Casteism is rampant in Indian society even today. Things have improved a bit. But it’s still prevalent.
This is disgusting. Sadly caste based discrimination is real not just in offices but everywhere (including blind). Last time such a post came up a upper caste guy went full nuts on a lower caste guy with insane hateful vitriol. I dunno if anyone remembers it. Sadly it happened in the UK as well. They were about to pass a law against caste based discrimination. But a significant number of Hindus protested and got the law scrapped. - Indian here (Hindi Family, middle caste I guess)
How do Indians tell what caste another Indian is these days? How do they differentiate among the different castes? Isnt there a lot?
Just wait till some not-from-Andhra guy alleges the same thing against intel
I don’t think Indians come to USA to discriminate against other Indians neither they do at home. This is like some ancient level of discrimination. Who does that nowadays? It should be a common sense for them.
Still happens a lot. Just because you don’t actively participate, it won’t go away. If you are really against, not participating in it is not enough. You have to be outright against it and actively work in fixing this mess.
