Citadel Securities SWE
How is the work culture in Citadel Securities (NYC office) for a entry-level software engineer ? I have a couple other offers from the tech companies in the bay area. But Citadel securities seem to be paying significantly higher TC (1.3x) compared to others. I am worried about the job-learning and career growth and would like to evaluate what is a good option for me.
Citadel is known to pay way above what top tech companies pay. It is 1.3x now and with comp progression it will be much more in the future. However it comes at a price. Citadel is notorious for having the worst work life balances in fintech. So, it’s upto you what you wanna choose. If you could crack Citadel, you have a good chance of cracking Two Sigma and HRT. They pay around the same and have better work life balance
Culture and long hours are only true for traders/quants on the hedge fund side. Devs at Citadel Securities work around 50/week on average from what I’ve seen. The hedge fund is more team dependent but over 60 hrs/week would be very rare.
