I have interviewed at 30+ companies, and interviewed with 6+ citadel engineers in the course of a few years, with both cit and cit sec. Citadel has had the most arrogant, nonchalant, (visibly) tired, and unprepared interviewers, who yet try to maintain a chad vibe. They look overworked and toxic. Even Amazon interviewers are kind and passionate, at least in the interviews. Btw I passed all rounds with citadel. TC 530k Yoe 13
The time warp has made wall st bros richer but less accustomed to new ways.
You can be one among them
Is the stereotype of long hours and zero wlb real there? If so, what you got is exactly what I’d expect. Those aren’t happy people.
Interestingly, I've found all the quant companies to be depressing. I've seen friends age like 10 years after working for a year. Although the TC is pretty sweet
Maybe the TC is worth having the devil rent your soul for a year. I mean we all do it for big tech in some form or the other.
Oh I couldn’t agree more. I interviewed with their options team i.e. one of the most interesting teams you could be on. Split the on-site between two days. I had two rounds on the first day, now I don’t want to get into the nationality of the interviewers at the risk of getting banned, but they both were the worst interviewers I’ve ever faced in my life. I ended up emailing my recruiter as soon as I got off the video call and asked her to cancel the second day’s interviews. Sooooo bad is an understatement. If someone doubts my caliber - I interviewed at 10 places, got offers from 9. Counting Citadel 11. Yeah, it was that bad.
Damn, that's really rough. Could you go into why it was bad? Was it the nature of the questions being pedantic or was it their tone?
Their behavior, constantly cutting me off, trying to show that they know more and are superior. I wasn’t fazed by the tough questions, maybe that fazed them.
its for people who enjoy being hard asses 24/7
I can confirm they do look tired and burnt out. It seemed weird to me. One of them casually said that if you want to relax you get an exit interview
Fits the stereotype though. Congrats btw
