Citi Compensation question NYC

Applied for a director role and they asked me: What is your target base compensation expectation? Please see job posting for salary range. *Range is 200-300K base. Curious how to answer this and if saying something like the following would be acceptable. "Range is acceptable and exact figure dependent on RSU package." This is just the very first recruiting email. Current base is zero since I'm on the job hunt - previous was 240K but need a job so want to give myself some flexibility to start. Advice appreciated. #citi #interview
