I recently joined a competitor bank (higher in prestige) with 50% pay hike and 70 times more bonus than I made at Citi. Reason was I was put on different team in 2022 and team was disorganized and they took away the work I was an SME at. But now should I have networked with other teams at Citi and switched teams rather than firm? 🙄 culture at Citi is of course not the best but there is 9 to 5 which is important with 2 kids
If you earning so much more in base and bonus why would you have stayed? Is the wlb much worse where you are now?
Currently can’t say much about wlb as I have joined 3 weeks ago. So for now it’s 9 to 5. But since it’s a higher in prestige bank and known for lot of work, I am sure work will be there
What is prestige ?
That should be the first bet, I am contemplating leaving for GS but you just reminded me to go for internal postings next year
Yes, even though money is less at Citi, switching teams is better?
I think yes, cause WLB is fine. My org is safe from layoffs , so will look for internal movement after bonus season or and if does not got well, jump ship.
So you've already made the switch, started working and now thinking back on what decision is better? Wtf is wrong with this group of incels and constantly droning over the past decisions? Stop whining and thinking about the past. Your making more money, get back to work
Well that tone and language is not helpful. We are all here to pitch in, provide opinions respectfully and help.
Working for Citi is no more like pre 2008, banking jobs not lucrative anymore, more work with less access to systems on legacy applications. Most managers there are doing absolutely nothing except playing politics with each other and managing folks from consulting firms working on some dumb tools.
You joined Citi again ?
No.i am asking whether it would have been wise to switch teams at Citi than leave it to join another firm
No
