Big tech treats non-technical people like disposable trashbag.
They treat technical people like that too
Unfortunately, All three of them involved in that call are disposable. The person responsible for this reckless hiring will still remain employed and even get bonuses. Sad reality
That’s the only thing I could think while listening. HR will be gutted next and those two buffoons think their hinds are safe
Cloudflare is notorious for this… been a crappy place for a long time
“I hear you” … bruh 😀
Honestly I thought the two of the people were respectful of her and patient. Compare that to big tech firing everyone by just cutting off access when they're literally working! I don't even think they get a call. One of my colleagues got laid off at Salesforce and the manager had to call his personal mobile to reach out, it was at all levels so the manager was blind sided too.
The issue is this isn't, on paper, a lay off. Cloudflare is using very sketchy tactics to avoid being considered a layoff.
Which the two people on the call likely had nothing to do with. The manager absolutely should have been on the call, unless he got fired first, but I don't understand why people have pitchforks out for the two just doing their jobs.
Yea I posted about it couple days ago. It’s funny how cloudflare bad mouths companies but here they are treating their employees like shit and trying to get out of paying severance/unemployment benefit.
She is such an idiot
More people across the board in tech praising her than hating. She took one for the team. That takes courage. From her follow up LI post addressing matters around this, she is well aware of the consequences. But, holding her self respect and principles is more dear than any impression and judgement another prospective employer may have… Also, CF has been laying off people for arbitrary reasons since early last year. It’s good to see someone exposing them and helping to prevent damage for others.
CF people who fired her are such an idiot for not saying “sorry we don’t need your position anymore”
They were probably instructed to by hire up. Honestly seems like they did their best with the pile of shit they’d been handed to pass on.
Yep, it's not like the two on the call had the final say of "is this a layoff or termination". So many people are just projecting onto them
