I saw this getting lot of mention in social media (incl trending TikTok video) but unable to confirm. https://x.com/bowtiedpassport/status/1745149758992195647?s=46
That’s wild. Cloudflare isn’t that great anyway. If you read on Reddit, they don’t really have middle tier products for SMB and these Sales Reps are trying to sell ultra expensive packages to companies that can’t afford them.
How expensive? I thought it was a decent company. Interviewing now. But reddit sales subreddit says their contracts for companies are super predatory and extortionary.
From talking to current employees, internally they are not calling it a layoff. Everyone knows this was not handled correctly. You can’t begin the call saying it is performance based yet your own manager says you are doing fine day to day.
Is it because they want to avoid severance pay?
Yes
She made literally zero sales in 4.5 months. She says it in the video. Listen closely. Would you expect to still have a job with zero lines of code in 4.5 months?
You could write 5000 lines of code that never adds any value to a customer, the account manager is still expected to convince the customer that it's the golden goose
Cloudflare ramp period is longer than the 3 months they give. Sales cycles can take up to a year. Product wise you’re ranging from vpn replacement to s3 competitor to serverless to cdn to api security. Imagine talking to a prospective customer about all of this 3 months into the job. It’s impossible to be successful in 3 months. Even getting to the point of sending out prospective contracts or trials is pretty impressive
